For the longest time, I told myself the same thing—
“I’m just tired.”

Tired from work.
Tired from responsibilities.
Tired… without any clear reason.

Signs of Emotional Exhaustion (It Didn’t Arrive Loudly)

There was no big moment. No breakdown. No clear sign that something was wrong.

It showed up quietly—
in the tightness I carried in my shoulders, even on calm days…
in the heaviness in my chest that I couldn’t explain…
in the constant noise in my mind that never really switched off.

Nothing about it felt “serious enough.” And maybe that’s why I kept overlooking it.
But it was always there… in the background.

The Question That Changed Everything

At some point, without even realising why, the question began to change.

I stopped asking,
“Why am I so tired?”

Instead, something deeper came up—
“What am I holding inside me?”

That question didn’t bring an immediate answer, but it created a pause. And in that pause, I began to sense something I hadn’t allowed myself to see before.

This wasn’t just stress. It felt like emotional weight… something I had been carrying for a long time without noticing. And once I felt that, even slightly, it became harder to keep pushing through in the same way.

Being Drawn to Something Different

I didn’t go looking for a solution right away. I didn’t even know what I needed. But I knew I couldn’t keep forcing myself forward.

That’s when I found myself drawn to Reiki and energy healing—not from a place of understanding, but from a quiet pull toward something that felt gentler.

Something that didn’t ask me to fix myself.
Something that didn’t ask me to try harder.

Just something that allowed me to slow down…
to sit…
to notice…
to feel.

Emotional Exhaustion and the Body Connection

I didn’t learn it all at once. It unfolded slowly. But one thing became clearer over time — what we don’t process emotionally doesn’t simply disappear.

It lingers.
It settles.
It finds space in the body, especially in the places we tend to ignore.

As I stayed with myself a little longer each day, I began to see that what I was carrying wasn’t just in my thoughts…

It was living in my body too.

Can Emotional Stress Cause Physical Symptoms?

Yes—and often more than we realise.

Looking back, I realise my body had been communicating with me for a while. I just didn’t know how to listen yet.

For me, it showed up through PCOS… and thyroid imbalances. Conditions that are often understood in purely physical terms. But for me, it didn’t feel separate. It felt connected.

Like my body was expressing something I hadn’t been able to acknowledge in any other way. A quiet accumulation of:

  • unfelt emotions
  • unspoken stress
  • a sense of being stuck
  • moments when I didn’t feel fully at ease within myself

Healing Emotional ExhaustionShifting From Fixing to Listening

For a long time, my instinct was to fix it—to find answers and make the discomfort go away. But that approach only made me feel more disconnected.

At some point, without a clear decision, that began to change. I stopped trying to fix everything all at once… and began listening instead.

Not perfectly.
Not consistently.
But enough.

Through small moments of stillness.
Through yoga.
Through Reiki.
Through allowing feelings to come up without immediately pushing them away.

Healing, I realised, wasn’t something I could force.
It was something I had to make space for.

And somewhere along the way, what quietly supported me the most was showing up for my practices every single day.

Simple sadhanas… done consistently… helped me slowly regain not just my physical energy, but also a sense of mental clarity I didn’t even realise I had lost.

A Small but Meaningful Shift – A Moment That Stayed With Me

I remember sitting with my doctor during a routine check-up.

She said,
“You don’t have any ovarian cysts now… but your body has a tendency.”

I didn’t respond immediately. I just sat there… taking it in. Because something about that moment felt different.

Not like a final answer.
But like a quiet confirmation that something within me had shifted.

Not just physically…
but in the way I was relating to myself.
